Bursting at the seams: my studio (at least for however long it's still mine to work in).
Still haven't been able to find a new studio space. And when I do, I can't even imagine the process of trying to move everything--especially all the hundreds of unframed pastels pinned up on the walls.
In this photo, on the left you can see, pinned on the far back wall of the studio, about a fourth of my finished, unframed smaller-format Rothko-esque pastels.
On the right, a couple of large oils in progress on the floor, and pinned up, some slightly larger, even more minimalist Rothko-esque pastels I've been doing lately (none posted yet). I think they're 9" x 12". When it's time to frame any of them, I'll probably need to get bigger frames than the current 11" x 14" frames I usually use; I think a bit more white mat around them would be better.

Hi Jala, it feels so sad visiting your blog these days knowing that you are to embark on a new journey in the days to come. Change is hard isn't it, I can say to you that I have also been in that place too many years ago and eventually you do find a place even if it is the kitchen table to create art. I know it doesn't sound much but it does give you the opportunity to keep going even in a very small way. I do hope you find a new studio as I can see you have a great deal of artwork to move. Lynx looks lovely on the sofa, she will miss her fellow cats when the time comes to move. I hope Cleo found a home. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best. Take care.
Thanks for the peek into your studio, I wish you all the best as you go through this difficult time.
Your studio is amazing and i am so sad you will be leaving it. On a practical note: moving the pastels is best done in pads of tracing paper. I buy them cheaply at AC Moore rather than the expensive pads at the art store. When you get them slide each pastel between the papers. Usually there are 50 sheets. Bingo fifty pastels are stored. Sending light your way.
