Even the painting looks good enough to eat. I like clicking on your images to see how you see the colors. The greens on the shade side scream "citrus fruit " and the meat of the fruit says " Ruby Red ". Lovely, perfect piece.
Jeff - Thanks! It's even more vibrant in person; I don't know why things always look slightly grayed online. Do you know??
Kim - Thank you! I'm looking forward to coming to visit your blog too.
Bonnie - Thanks! I've recently started making the photos come up larger than before when clicked. Glad to know it's working to allow people to see more of the color and/or detail.
Janelle - It was seriously delicious!! I'm craving more looking at the painting again now...but The Husband only bought one, unfortunately. Let's see, what paints did I use...it was Permanent Rose, Cad Red Med., Titanium White, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Siena, and Cad Yellow (med or light, don't remember). So that means the Permanent Rose (which just seemed a more grapefruit-y color than my usual Alizarin) and the Ultramarine Blue and the Burnt Siena (Burnt Siena was only in the shadow, not elsewhere on the grapefruit) were transparents.
Loriann - Thank you! It does look kinda real, doesn't it?! And it tasted so good too.
Brian M - Thank you for all the nicely specific comments!
Brian E - Thank you! You slay me!!!!
Laurel - Thanks! I think it helped to eat the other half first; that way, I REALLY got the essence. :)

Nice work! Colors are right on. I can feel that deep grapefruit color inside.
I LOVE your work! This is my first time seeing it. I followed a link from another blog, and I am so glad I did. This grapefruit just glows.

Hi Jala, I bet that grapefruit tasted as good as it looks. (It makes me want to eat one.) Beautiful painting! Did you use transparent paint?
Nice use of warm and cool colors to create a believable, delicious painting. Beautiful!
This looks great, Jala - it's got a really nice, believable sense of volume and your colors look wonderfully accurate.
Jala, I bought this one. enough said!
This is so delicious and juicy - you just totally nailed the essence of that fruit! Mm mmm!!
