Jala, I've seen lots of pear paintings by other artists. - this is one of the best I've seen. You captured interest by looking down at it and using a deep shadow. It's bathed in a warm glow!
Thank you, Janelle, what a nice compliment! (The looking down on it is sort of an artifact of the way I'm set up, though, so can't really claim that part as intentional...:), but the darkness of the shadow areas was.)
Jala- you really captured the foreshortening of that pear and all it's sides and shapes. The shadow, and that little peeking reflection on the underside of the pear is a perfect touch. Colors are beautiful.
Dar - Thank you. I hope someday to be able to try painting in only north daylight, but for now it's just night painting with "artificial sunlight" bulbs.
Bonnie - Thanks. I know, the little underside reflection (in Cad.Red Lt.) turned out to be such a necessary part of the painting!
Loriann - Thank you. You always notice the parts I had the most fun with! :)
Laurel - Thanks so much! Cool, but none of it pays the bills. I'll visit you again...
I'm a painter (and writer and Spanish instructor) living in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I studied classical art in an ARC (Art Renewal Center) school, Colorado Academy of Art, full-time for two years, in order to benefit from the rigorous atelier-style training. I am currently dedicated to exploring abstract and semi-abstract art, working in oil and also in soft pastel. I firmly believe that all human beings are creative, whether or not they have yet found an outlet for the innate creative urge, and that the creative arts are the highest form of human expression. Hi Jala- Nice color choices! I just linked to you on my blog:)
Well, Jala, I like the painting. Very well done. But I don't see much yellow. Does that mean it is not ripe yet?

Kathleen - Thanks!
Bill - artistic license. :)
Lovely.
You achieve very natural color, even when using artificial light. Really nice.

I love your color choices in the shadow side. What a nice surprise to see that teal.
Hey Jala, I have just been to your website and I love it all! Beautiful work! And you write novels... and short stories too? So very cool.
