Robbie

A lovely young guy, Robbie. I'd seen him at a restaurant where he's a busboy and asked him if he might want to model for our alla prima class. Lucky for us--he said yes.  Buoyed by this, I will considering "pimping" some more alla prima models in the future for my art teacher. :)

Your work is beautiful, Jala...
I especially like the greens and blues you've used in his skin... They model and make the vignette so interesting to look at!

Jala your portraits are really outrageous. Look at that those colors in the skin...and that edge along his brow and the one at the top of his nose...wow!

Edward - Thank you!

Marian - Thank you. Funny story: In class, I'm now "allowed" to try choosing my own color palette for my work, just because I've been doing this somewhat longer than the other students. Most of the rest of them are still using the starter palette which is easier but not as colorful. Last Wednesday, during this Robbie portrait, one of my classmates looked over and wailed in frustration, "I wanna use HER palette!"

Karen -Thank you. "Outrageous"--hee hee. Love that.

Jala, you have a great instinct for figurative work. More!

Jala,
Your work is simply stunning-I love the color and the brushstrokes of your portraits, and equally am in love with the still life pieces, especially the leaf.
thanks for sharing,
Faye

I agree that you have a way with portraits. Funny, I noticed the vibrant palette right away. The color harmony is wonderful.
