Suspension 2

It was too cold in the studio last night to work in there, and I had a migraine besides, so no artwork got done yesterday, I'm afraid.  But here's one that I put the final layer on a couple of weeks ago and is now done.

I was recently asked why, when I posted Suspension (#1) a few days ago, I didn't say anything about how tortuous it was to paint with the knife. It was a great question, because it made me stop and think. The answer is that when I try to do realism with a knife, it's agony, but completely abstract with a knife feels just fine.

Jala,
You created such a beautiful surface tension balanced by quiet color......

I like the new look of your blog - and the knife work. Congrats on the awards - you'd have been one of my pics - still mulling them over...

For a migraine: Plunge your hands under hot running water. The shivering response is a vaso-dilator. (I may have mentioned this to you before.) It used to give me relief back when I was a sufferer.

Hello Jala - I don't remember whose blog I was on when I jumped over here, but I am so glad I am here. Your work is just amazing and I loved scrolling through all of it. I will be back. :)

I love your knife work and I really love this painting. The colors are magnificent (and my favorite colors). I have no idea how you can create these wonderful abstracts and I would love to know more about how you approach your paintings. Love the palette knife!

Jala, this is great. Have you seen bay area artist Nathan Oliviera's work? These pieces make me think of some of his stuff. Could be why I see figures in everything. Thanks for the tag, I'll try to get to my duties, I've been rather busy again.

I adore this painting! The colours are moody and the minimal tension just speaks to me!
