Sky study 15

Dramatic. One of my favorites so far.

-----

Happy birthday to me,
Happy birthday to me,
Happy birthday to mee-eee,
Happy birthday to me.

45. Strange age. The number sounds sooo ancient, I suppose because that's the age young people (myself included, long ago) always give as "some middle-aged person, like, 45." Like, as a dismissal.

Anyway. Halfway between 30 and 60. Some days I still feel 30, some days 60, so I suppose that's appropriate.
(And some days, 90. But anyway.)

How could one fail to have a joyous birthday when eating chocolate for breakfast...and looking at this?

At the Purple Lotus hotel in Bangalore.

This is definitely one of your best. Looks a lot like a purple lotus.

Now that you mention it, In honor of your day, I think I'll have a piece of chocolate. Cherry chili chocolate. Yum.

Sam - I think the whole world should (over-)indulge in chocolate on my birthday!! Go for it!! Glad you like the sky, too.

Happy Birthday Jala!

This is by far the most dramatic and expressive cloud you done. It's beautiful, I envy your talent.

Happy birthday for yesterday, I'm sorry I am a bit late with these wishes. Chocolate for breakfast?, sounds good to me.
I love the sky study, the best so far I think.

happy birthday Jala! hope you have a great day! And the cloud painting is just wonderful: it is one of those clouds which seems to be going somewhere purposefully.

One of my favorites of the sky studies, too! Dramatic and appropriate for a birthday! Hope you had a great one... from the perspective of 60+, 45 sounds pretty young to me. Like you're just getting started!

Happy belated birthday, Jala! I'm a year and a few months shy of my 45th birthday, but I think it will be something to look forward to.
The painting is sublime; your cloudscapes are all wonderful and inspiring, though.

Rumi's picture made me laugh out loud, and I had to show my mom :).

Hi Donald. Glad to know I still appear to be a spring chicken. :)

Loriann, thank you. I think the drama of it (the cloud, not the b-day) seems to appeal to many people.

Hi Sonya, thanks. So we're close in age...not surprised! I still laugh out loud at Rumi. He can be a huge pest (knocking things over just for fun, e.g.) but he makes me laugh so much.

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you. My mother gave me a great piece of advice a long while ago. Don't tell people your age, and don't tell yourself your age, then you will never be defined by a totally artificial number. I liked the advice and I live by it. Your work is beautiful, and you are completely separate from a number invented by some man who invented the calendar. You'd be a different age in Korea, and in many other countries. See? Arbitrary.

Happy Birthday,

Take care,

Barbara
