This is a very strong piece. Very archetypal. Interesting that you referenced cave paintings in a recent post. It would seem your diving into your unconscious on some level. Can't wait to see where it goes.
Brian E - Thank you! So interesting that you see it as archetypal. When I began it, I decided I wanted to convey a sense of "primitive". "Archetypal" is an even better word for it. So glad it came across.
Rahina - Thank you! Wish you could see it in person.
Maggie - Thank you, O goddess of minimalism! :D
Suzanne - Thank you. It's always a good thing when a painting makes someone keep looking for a while. Miss Lemon thanks you for the compliment, too.
Jala, I've been lurking all summer, admiring your work, and the furry hijinks as well. I had to emerge to say Wow, this piece really made me take notice.
I'm a painter (and writer and Spanish instructor) living in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I studied classical art in an ARC (Art Renewal Center) school, Colorado Academy of Art, full-time for two years, in order to benefit from the rigorous atelier-style training. I am currently dedicated to exploring abstract and semi-abstract art, working in oil and also in soft pastel. I firmly believe that all human beings are creative, whether or not they have yet found an outlet for the innate creative urge, and that the creative arts are the highest form of human expression. Something about this piece grabbed my attention- and held it.
I think Marian said it well.
Miss Lemon in the spotlight- she's thinking it's about time.
Lots of mystery in this piece. It has a sculptural quality to it too, that I like.
