Mona, Liz - Thanks. First the little blue area looked like a protected little cove to me...then the yellow shape struck me as looking like a giant finger...hence the dual title. :)
Pam - Thanks. It's funny, until you just mentioned it I hadn't actually realized I'd used primaries! And sure enough, using all 3 primaries always aids in producing a bold look. I had just been grabbing pastels at random that felt right. Isn't art amazing?!
Step away for a few days, and look how much I missed! Love the colors here with that little "cove" of blue balancing the warmth of the others. "Mesa" from your june 7 post is spectacular, too. Love all that stuff going on in the right panel!
I'm a painter (and writer and Spanish instructor) living in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I studied classical art in an ARC (Art Renewal Center) school, Colorado Academy of Art, full-time for two years, in order to benefit from the rigorous atelier-style training. I am currently dedicated to exploring abstract and semi-abstract art, working in oil and also in soft pastel. I firmly believe that all human beings are creative, whether or not they have yet found an outlet for the innate creative urge, and that the creative arts are the highest form of human expression.
