Back to alla prima, light-and-shadow style for this one. Trying to paint loose, hoping that some of Quang Ho's magic has rubbed off on me from watching his DVDs.
I'm a painter (and writer and Spanish instructor) living in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I studied classical art in an ARC (Art Renewal Center) school, Colorado Academy of Art, full-time for two years, in order to benefit from the rigorous atelier-style training. I am currently dedicated to exploring abstract and semi-abstract art, working in oil and also in soft pastel. I firmly believe that all human beings are creative, whether or not they have yet found an outlet for the innate creative urge, and that the creative arts are the highest form of human expression. This is a really nice, loose piece Jala!
It's beautifully loose! I especially love the treatment of the jar.
Nice one Jala! Such a sweet photo of the dog too.
Who's the cutie??? Is Jazzy his / her name.... ??? SOOOOOO cute.
Oh... now I've scrolled down and I see there's a second lovie... How wonderful... beautiful dogs, Jala!
I always enjoy your alla prima work... You are so versatile!!
So as you try different methods, do you find you have a preference or do you warehouse it in the brain and pull it out as you need it?
I'm asking as I just ordered Quangs' DVD also after reading about it here and in the spring 09 issue of Workshop Magazine.
I love how you handle the loose painterly brushwork.
Is Jazz giving the Blorpenmeister a day off from the camera and kleig lights of web fame?
