Saw this funky bizarro white pattypan squash at the farmers' market, thought, Wow, I'd love to paint that!, bought it for two bucks, started painting it, wished I hadn't. Ugh. It nearly killed me. My friend/artist/neighbor Sam would say, "It turned on me." Don't ever let me paint another one of these.
Couldn't find the little fluffinmuffin today. Finally located him napping on the stairs. Notice the tiny black tippytail hanging down.

The pattypan squash looks awesome, love all the reflected warms, very nice!!
Stop photoshopping parts and pieces of the worlds' cutest kitties and splicing them together and then placing the amalgam in alluring poses.
Just stop.
I think it was the black tippytail that sent me over the threshold of sensibility.
So I guess you never want to paint a white pattypan squash with a palette knife either?
You did a fine job getting as many " Sargent " whites on the shiny surface of the squash.
I like it. Doesn't look like something I would want to eat however. Did you eat it?
Hi Jala, i'm glad you persevered, it has such presence, and your brush work has done it justice. r.
This turned out great, but I can see how it would be a nightmare to paint with all those crevasses. Great job on the use of whites and I love those glowing shadows.
And thanks for posting the latest picture of the blog world's favorite kitten!
hermosa pintura!
Saludos desde Argentina!
Thanks, Diane! I think it turned out well too, but what a pain it was!
Bonnie, you're cracking me up. Amalgam... hahaha. Tippytails rule! (The very idea of having to do the white pattypan with a palette knife will send me into a screaming fit.)
Bill/Lisa - I'm afraid to eat it, actually. It looks kind of alien-like to me. Not sure if I'll have the courage or not.
Thanks, Rahina. I definitely tried to make it "fill up the space" of the canvas; it's a big thing so wanted to give that impression.
Gwen - Thank you. It WAS a nightmare!!! Lynx sends nose-kisses.
!Hola, amigo/a anonimo/a argentino/a! Gracias.
OK, you're outlawed from white veggies, BUT you did a great job. Reminds me of Sargent' 'nun' the woman all in white holding a white veil against a white wall... When is white not 'white'? All the time...
