Carousel

The bright colors and liveliness of this piece inspired the title "Carousel." I was going to call it "Harlequin," but clowns and harlequins and such really creep me out.

There's some glare on the photo; sorry. I took it just before we left and it was still wet--we just arrived in London for 8 days, and I plan to see some Sargent and Turner while I'm here! So far, my intentions include Tate Modern (hoping for Rothko), Tate Britain, and National Portrait Gallery. Anyone with specific what-art-to-see in London suggestions, please feel free.

Sometimes you just gotta find a little sunbeam and lose consciousness for a while.

(P.S. Lynx wants you all to know he's a boy--but he won't hold a grudge for those of you who thought he was so pretty, he must be a girl.)

Have a great time in London! Lucky you! It will be fun to see what wonderful things come of your travel inspirations! (Great name for this piece - it really fits.) Who is taking care of Lynx?

I always appreciate your bold statements and this one is a beauty! Those strong darks give it so much drama.
EEEk..Clowns. Completely share your clown aversion. Can't even stand the Snuggles Bear myself.

How cool that you're in London! Know you'll have a great time. Where is Lynx Muffin while your gone? That's another great photo of HER and possibly too tempting for me to resist painting.

Have a great trip and take lots of reference pics to show us!

Hi Rahina, thanks! I did indeed bring my umbrella.

Thanks, Laurel. Ooh, I forgot to put on my post who's taking care of Lynx! I'm already missing the little bugger... A friend of ours is housesitting and taking care of our entire menagerie (7 animals). I assigned her the specific task of handling, holding, and cuddling Lynx a lot. It's a terrible job, but someone's gotta do it...

Hi Gwen, see my response to Laurel above about Lynxmuffin. He'll be well looked after. What is it with clowns, anyway? Do you know the Seinfeld episode with the scary psycho clown?

Thanks, Sheila. Actually, I'm likely to tell you all about it even while I'm here, since we've got free wireless and all here...

Nevertheless it immediately made me think "Harlequin". It has a dark mystery to it. Being spooked out is ok, LOL.
Hope you are enjoying the galleries in London. There is a lot to see!
