Gregory - Thank you. Indeed, it was all about the light in this one.
Dewberry - Thanks. I had to redo that side a lot until finally getting it right.
Carolyn - Thanks. Yep, I really do. They're all so different and have such personality. If I could paint only one fruit for the rest of time, it'd definitely be pears.
Leslie, Kim - Thank you. I don't like any tube greens. My favorite greens at this point come from Prussian Blue plus various yellows. Such was the case in this one.
Bonnie - "The title stands, the pear lays down"- Ha! You made me laugh when I read that. :)
Marian - I think I should've softened some edges even more, in retrospect. Nevertheless, I'm glad. Thanks.
Liz - The Husband and I don't often exhibit perfection in our attempts at symbiosis, but in this case, yes. :)
I'm a painter (and writer and Spanish instructor) living in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I studied classical art in an ARC (Art Renewal Center) school, Colorado Academy of Art, full-time for two years, in order to benefit from the rigorous atelier-style training. I am currently dedicated to exploring abstract and semi-abstract art, working in oil and also in soft pastel. I firmly believe that all human beings are creative, whether or not they have yet found an outlet for the innate creative urge, and that the creative arts are the highest form of human expression. Hi Jala, wonderful brushwork on this pear, and good to see you make full use of your pear.
I love the light in this painting.
Just fabulous. Wonderful color in the shadow side of the pear.

Vaery beautiful greens. I struggle with greens! Your husband really should've waited until it was ripe....

It's just enough yellow and just enough green and more than just enough beautiful.
