Untitled 75

Pastel on Sennelier LaCarte, approx. 2.5" x 4".

Rumi watching over his little brother.

Gadjo seems to be doing better overall lately. He finished the last of his pain meds a few days ago. The vet said she doesn't need to recheck him unless he gets worse. If it's an injury, then it seems to be healing. If its FHS, then at least for now it seems to be a minor inconvenience to him just a few times a day. It was about twenty times a day for a while. However, if it is FHS, it may get worse since he started way younger than normal. All we can do is hope for the best and rejoice that right now he's doing a lot better than he was. Yay Gadjo!

The other day I decided to make a lovely pasta-and-asparagus dinner with my favorite recipe. Salivating in anticipation, I reached into the vegetable drawer in the fridge to find...this. Beheaded asparagus. Marie Antoinette asparagus. The Husband had struck again. How rude is it for him to have cut off the best part of this delicacy--in secrecy--and have used it for his lunch? You may remember the cheese incident. Apparently he was raised by cavepeople.

Three public outings and yer out Husband!!!
I didn't recall the " cheese incident " until I clicked back and re-read it.
I would be very suspect if you brought home a wedge of watermelon, that you'd be missing the top pyramid of sweet spot along the upper ridge.
Marie Antoinette Asparagus indeed. I think you've birthed a new recipe.
You could serve it with headless beer.

And yea for Gadjo - he and Rumi are folklore in the making. I could gaze at their pictures forever and they're not even my kits.

I'm imagining all of your small pastels lined up next to each other and what a stunning color play they would make.

PS- word verf: " doses "
Yup, just had some- thanks Rumi and Gadjo

I've been laughing for a full five minutes at the asparagus massacre, I can just imagine your face. What a thing to do! After being named and shamed after the cheese incident he must have realised there would be consequences. I hope your pasta was nice despite it.

About the "Marie Antoinette asparagus", and keeping in mind the cheese incident, I believe that your husband is making progress: this time he neatly cut the ends off instead of just biting into them. He is headed in the right direction wouln't you say? :-)
As for Gadjo, I am glad to read that he is doing better for the moment. It is always heart-wrenching to see our "kids" suffer.
Lastly, and since this is the first time I post a comment here, I would like to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. I visit it almost everyday in the hopes of seeing cute pics of your "animolecules". Oh my...I think I just admitted that I need to get a life. SIGH.
All the best,
Viviane

HA HA HA HA HA!!! That nasty boy! Why am I so not surprised?

Have you noticed your "tasty" pastel absolutely matches the evidence photo?

Solve this crime with...

Coup d'asparagus soup.

Bonnie - What do you think the third strike will be? Rutabagas? Potatoes? Green beans? We can save the headless beer 'till Halloween.
"Folklore"--love it. They know, I think, how awesome they are.
You can pay for all the matting and framing, and I'll let you have first look at all the pastels together...deal?

Lisa - "Asparagus massacre"--hahahaha, sounds like a good band name!

Viviane - Hahahha, you're right, definitely progress! I'm happy to hear you come to see the animolecules. I visit other blogs every day to see others' critters, too. And yes, it's wonderful to see Gadjo doing so much better. The little dude.

Mary - Exactly!! My kitties say hi to yours.

Suzanne - Thank you. "Little dears," eh? I might use that term for my animolecules, but not for Husbands, uh-uh.

Sam - You are not surprised because you know him. That's why. "Coup d'asparagus"--hahahaha! Another great band name!
I've noticed I seem to have an unconscious tendency to choose final photos that echo my art photo. Hm.

How sad the headless asparagus spears sit on the paper sack! I am convinced that women have a view about food that comes from hours of planning meals, making lists, driving or walking to stores, selecting food after reading labels and inspecting for freshness, paying for it, hauling it home, putting it away. Whew! Done.

Men view the groceries in the house as theirs for the taking, a supply that is always replenished.

Oh, for the day, when I can open the pantry and find my favorite coffee in fresh new package ready for me to use. Maybe when my mom comes for a visit!
