The saddest news

Friends: the sweetest, sickest little kitten, who was with us just a few days, has died this evening.

I am so sad--and so angry with myself for not bringing him to the emergency vet in time, in spite of the fact that the vets kept telling me on the phone that he would recover and that it was not an urgent situation, as long as he was eating and drinking all right. The worst is that both The Husband and I were out for an hour or so this evening and he died alone, which makes me so furious I don't know what to do with myself.

I hadn't blogged about him until today because I was afraid to "jinx" his health when he seemed so touch-and-go. Then yesterday he had a pretty good afternoon...

Friends, please give your kitties an extra hug tonight and pray that his dear little soul has moved on to live in a healthier kitten body somehow.

Jala, I am so, so sorry. He looks like a little cutie. I am sure he will go on to a healthier body. At least he was loved. Take care-

Jala, I am so sorry about Basho! It's been a hectic day for me but briefly saw your earlier post and thought what beautiful markings he has.

My brother's family just had a similar loss in that their beloved puppy of only six months died after eating something he shouldn't have, only a few months after his arrival in their home. I'll keep you and your kitty in my prayers tonight too.

So sorry - I can tell you loved him very much and I think he knew it and will miss you as much as you will miss him.

I'm very sorry. I am also glad he had a life - even a few days - in your loving home rather than in a shelter. My heart feels the loss.

I'll give all three of our well loved cats an extra scratch behind the ears in his memory tonight.

Sorry about my previously deleted comment.... wanted to add something...

Jala, I feel your pain.
Here is a big transatlantic blogger artist hug from me. Just like humans... when it's your time...it's your time.
Last year we kept one of our little dears on a drip in the vets office for three days, she came home for a night and then we still had to make the dreadful decision of having to end her life. Sometimes we just prolong their agony just because WE can't say goodbye. For some reason it FEELS worse than loosing a human loved one.

If you feel like it why not make a start on two or three paintings.....the first to convey the sweetness and love you both gave each other...the second the anger you are feeling towards yourself for not acting sooner.....and a third which comes from her little kitty heart where she is forgiving you for whatever you may THINK you have done wrong. ......A series of paintings conveying pure emotion in pure colour....called Basho

..it was the most upsetting news for me to find such a lovely kitten leaving your warm company for a new journey..i was a chronic asthama patient myself, hence could feel the pain of that lovely being..yet the reality of the world in which we live is impermanent, uneal and full of delusion...only our soul is eternal, divine and transcendental..
so do not feel upset about the loss..just remember the good times she spent with you..

that is a sad story--i would feel so terrible too. Will have to say he is quite the lucky cat to have recieved love and care from probably one of the best homes for animolecules :) Even though he passed alone he must have felt all the love and safety any creature could being in your home.

Sorry about Basho. That looks like a dear little kitten, even though you only knew him for a short time.

I only ever had one cat who presented herself to me to expire (some illness), which was an enormous privilege and so rare. They usually prefer to do that in secret.

Love.

So sorry Jala. Basho did have it pretty good at your house though, relatively speaking. (: I too will give my little Coco and Layla extra TLC tonight.
