Wow, this has great appeal at many levels. (I made that up). This is a great piece Jala. Tremendous texture and color. Initially I thought what a fabulous abstract, then it's a shear face of a mountain, then windows in an old building. I'm sure I'll think of something else but I'll stop here for now. Applause, applause .... encore, encore.
I totally dig this painting, but I can't even articulate why. It's got interesting texture and sort of looks random but obviously isn't. Its creation looks intuitive and flowing.
Okay, so maybe I did articulate why I like it after all ;).

Hi Sonya - Thanks; indeed you did. ;) This piece was interesting in that it had one identity for many layers that I just kept slightly tweaking. Eventually I got frustrated that it wouldn't come together so I decided it all had to go and I slathered a whole new mostly opaque layer onto it and went from there. So, in a way, random. I liked it much better in the end and am glad I decided to scrap the identity that was almost but not quite working.

You can do abstract and you can do moody - here you have successfully combined them in my opinion. You are getting to be a cold wax expert and me a cold wax afficionado (although I still haven't tried it - do you buy it in a bottle?)
Very interesting composition. I like it. I've been away from blogging for a while. Starting to get back into the swing of things. Glad I visited your blog. I really love it.
Sheila - Thank you very much. I'm thoroughly enjoying the cold wax possibilities. Far from an expert, however. :) Glad you're liking them. You buy Cold Wax Medium in a jar and mix it approx. 1:1 with oil paint.
