Open Studios Boulder Fall 2010 coverage

My back to the camera here, talking to two of the visitors. I love the skeptical look on that woman's face!...wonder what I was saying to cause that. On the left of the photo is my friend Paul Lander, getting some doggy love.

Jazzy took his art-guarding duties quite seriously. Perhaps we could rent him out to some of the major museums? He seemed especially serious about guarding the blue paintings.

Rumi and Miss Lemon taking a break, worn out from their greeting duties.

Below, a quick vid The Husband made while I was explaining oil + cold wax technique to some visitors. We even had Bonnie Luria doing a virtual tour via Skype.
(P.S. Does anyone know why when perfectly clear videos are put onto Blogger, they get all grainy and fuzzy?)

And below is the official Boulder TV22's video covering the opening night, where each artist had one piece on display at the Boulder Public Library. You can see a lot of different artists' work here. I'm in it briefly at 00:16, 00:36, and in a still just before the credits. This is about five minutes long.

I had a great time during Open Studios and I hope to participate again next year.

Loved the video of the event, and the pics. It's great how many communities do Open Studio events like this; Durango had one in mid-September.

The photo of Rumi and Miss Lemon is just adorable!

Congrats Jala, I loved this post. It looks like you had a great time, and your art is gorgeous. So are your fury friends!

j'aime le chien qui ne voit que du bleu!

This really confirms that the arts are not only alive but actively sought out by the public. It's a great idea. People are so inquisitive about seeing the " laboratory " where ideas are hatched and meeting the artists in their own studios.
Your visitors got treated to more than you and your art on display.
There are your animals- in character so perfectly.
We have a local musician here- quite a popular one, and his name is Jazzy Blue.
How perfect to describe your art guard.

I loved being linked in on Skype and seeing you interact with your patrons and your newest male model displaying designaturals' prototypes.
Rumi and Miss Lemon are ridiculous.

Looks like a really fun time - wonderful to see your gorgeous work in context of home and life! Wish I could've dropped by for the festivities and demo!

Hi Sonya, thank you. Will you be in the next Durango one, do you think? Were you there to attend that one, and if so, how was it? Kisses to the gray kitty.

Hi Nancy, thanks. I assume that's a typo and you meant "furry," though sometimes they do get a bit furious, especially the kitties in the middle of the night furiously running up and down the stairs. :)

Karen B - Thanks.

ELFI - Merci. Je crois qu'il sait quelles peintures je prefere.

Hi Bonnie - You always have the best comments. You're right, I should realize how great it is that people are actively seeking out art in their community. "Newest male model..." hee hee. Jazzy Blue? Really? Wow! How synchronous. Like Cloud and Rumi (Clumi, Roud).

Hi Laurel - It would've been great to have you here.

Ciao Jane, grazie!

Finally getting back to your questions here...

I'd definitely like to participate in the Open Studios here next year, or maybe they have them quarterly. I need to find that out.

I'd planned to go, but completely spaced out the date and missed it :(. Bummer, as there were several studios within walking distance to my place. I went once or twice when I was living in Flagstaff, and it was great!

Nelson gives a wet nose kiss back :).
