Pueblo

I like the PastelMat for this style, I've decided. Of course, when I went to order some more, it was all sold out, seeing as how everyone and their brother is trying it out...

We're leaving on Wednesday for a week in Costa Rica and I was hoping to bring some more PastelMat, but now, instead, maybe I will experiment with just pastel pencils and Sennelier LaCarte while in Costa Rica. Not to mention catch up on some always-needed drawing practice.

Do not wake the sleeping baby chupacabra...

Do not wake him...

Or you may be sorry.

I love this series- the geometry and statement of color, so simple and rich.

Poor, sweet, unsuspecting Rumi, having the insides of his nostrils under macro scrutiny.

As beautiful as Costa Rica is, I'm thinking you'll have a hard time leaving your babies.

But will, and return with more inspiration.

Still loving the art - and your amazing photography.

And look! He's still got his baby teeth!
So cute...

I know you want to take your new "travel box"; too bad you can't pack finished paintings in it. :( So take lots of pics for posts and show us when you get back. Can't wait to see 'em!

Hi Bonnie - Oh, I am going to miss them SO much. It kills to be away from them. Glad you're liking this pastels series.

Sandra - Thank you!

Hi Patrice - Thank you. I find Rumi's dentition to be a source of sort of fascinating horror, one of those things that's so scary and weird and ugly, it's cute. :)

Hi Sam - Yeah, it's going to be interesting, trying to carry all the diff. stuff to try to do some pastels while traveling...and I'm having nightmares about the idea of multi-colored, permanently staining pastel dust over every piece of clothing I own...Hmm, maybe not such a good idea?

Beautiful colors and solid compositions in these pastels, Jala - I especially like this one. The fine, even texture of the PastelMat is well suited for these abstracted forms.

I hope you are having a fabulous time, Jala. I hope you took the kitties. :o

Those are strange teeth, though... I've had cats for over 30 years and I've never seen teeth quite like them! I LOVE this kitten!

Oh, yes,... also I love this painting. You are, I think I've told you, my favorite abstract painter.

Hi Brian M, thank you, and I definitely like PastelMat for this style.

Faye, thanks!

Hi Kelley - I've had cats my whole life too...and I don't remember any of them having quite this bizarre-looking "human baby teeth." I love what a weirdo he is! Glad you're enjoying the pastels, too.

Another of these orange/blue paintings! Love it.
I love Rumi's fascinating dentition! My Wendell has those eye teeth that poke out from under his lip. I adore them.
PS.
I'm sure you will so miss your babies during your trip to India!
Have a wonderful journey.
