Smoke from the California fires is affecting us here in Colorado. A couple of nights ago it turned the early-evening rising moon red. It was an amazing sight.

Wow Jala- this might be my favorite abstraction so far.
You've described the heat and intensity so perfectly.
That ball is ablaze under your brush.
I'm reminded of Pink Floyd " Dark Side of the Moon".
It's unimaginable that life can be so tenuous in places that are no longer remote or " somewhere else".
I guess Lynx can't bear looking either.
That belly has an invisible target that says " insert nose here ".
Love how this painting turned out. You can really imagine the intensity of the heat from the fires.

The contrast w/ the sky and moon is great. I remember a few years back w/ the Hayman fire how beautiful the sunsets were. Sad that something so terrible creates something so beautiful. It is foggyish/smokyish here, too.

Thank you all for your comments about Red Moon! And it drives me crazy that it uploaded kind of blurry looking. In reality there are some sharper and clearer (not so fuzzy) areas. I.e., it looks better in person!
