Jala, i am so very sorry for your loss! there's not a lot anyone can say to ease the pain, but know i'm sending you healing thoughts of comfort. the loss, then compounded by another, so soon in your relationship with such a beautiful little soul is just awful! i'm so very sorry. and how wonderful that you're going to be with the little one when he leaves this harsh world. i will continue to expect miracles for you, jellyroll still might surprise you. i will keep hoping so at least. take good care. best suz
I'm so sorry to hear about your recent losses and hope that Jellyroll finds his way back to you. It doesn't take long for those little guys to make their way into your heart. The pain of losing pets has always been hardest for me, but there usually is a light at the end of the tunnel when you discover another pet that needs a hero in his or her life.
Jala, don't give up on Jellyroll yet. I have heard some amazing stories about returning cats. I'm so sorry about Snoopy. What a wonderful kitty from your description.
Jala, I totally feel your pain. Poor baby! But I want to tell you NOT to give up on Jellyroll. My cat, Max, went missing after bolting out the front door (I TOLD them not to prop it open) into the road, and smashed into a moving CAR - then ran off into the wooded area behind our house. I came home hours later and found he was gone, with a nonchalant attitude prevailing in the house that he'd 'come home when he was ready'. Having NEVER been outside in this yard, and with the trauma he'd experienced I knew this was not the case. I put up signs, and 3 times a day, wandered through the woods, people's backyards, and the streetes, calling him (I lose all pride when these things happen, just don't care), SINGING songs he'd recognize (yeah, I sing a lot, too) and shaking a cat food box. Eleven days later we were headed out for dinner and I wanted to just call briefly, and Tim humored me. As I called his name I heard the FAINTEST "eyow" coming from the woods... BAM! I was off and running. Max was terrified and woudn't let me pick him up but he was joyfully rubbing his face on mine and purring and rolling over for about 15 minutes. He ran back into the woods when I tried to get him, but I got him the next morning with a 'trap' of a dish of his favorite food in the middle of a pillow case. Yes, he yeowled all the way into the house inside the pillow case, but as soon as he got inside he was THRILLED. He was skeletal, (NOT the best mouser) but purring for days. There is still hope for jellyroll. I will pray for her. Just don't give up yet.
I've heard amazing cat-return stories too, so will not give up all hope. It is very worrying, however, as Jellyroll actually is an indoor/outdoor (as he wishes; there's a cat door) cat. During the summers he often disappears for 2 to 3 days. But never longer than 3 days. So two to three weeks seems a very long time... but we shall continue to hope.
I'm very sorry, Jala. Poor dear Snoopy had your love and concern in his final days. You accrued much kitty karma.
Keep an eye out for Jellyroll. My friend's cat turned up after 5 weeks. My naive white cat went on an 11 day walkabout, and still refuses to tell us his adventure. Mook and I will be thinking of you.
I read this the other night and it reminded me of my Baxter - a wonderful cat who disappeared three years ago. I still think of him, though I know he must now have passed on. One never completely get over a loved pet - all you can do is play your love forward in their honor.
Here's hoping a special cat will soon be best buds with Lynx.
I am so sorry for your pain. I will hold out hope for Jellyroll return. Honestly I know and have had many cats who take vacation for weeks. I hope he is one. Still sorry for the loss of your new little one.
I'm a painter (and writer and Spanish instructor) living in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I studied classical art in an ARC (Art Renewal Center) school, Colorado Academy of Art, full-time for two years, in order to benefit from the rigorous atelier-style training. I am currently dedicated to exploring abstract and semi-abstract art, working in oil and also in soft pastel. I firmly believe that all human beings are creative, whether or not they have yet found an outlet for the innate creative urge, and that the creative arts are the highest form of human expression. It's so hard when animals pass away or are lost. They are so innocent and give unconditional love. Your dogs and cats are so lucky to have you, Jala.
I am so sorry about your cats. Animals are such a part of all of our lives, and the loss of them is so difficult.
I'm so sorry.
p.s. I miss Jellyroll, too.

Thank you all so much.

P.S. Suzanne, it's not me who was going to be with Snoopy, but rather the veterinarians and staff of the Humane Society.
