Hi Jala, Just love the space you have given this painting: no title, no inhibitions and you knew when it was complete. It's a wonderful thing and stands alone beautifully. r.
Thank you, Rahina! It's the kind of piece I hesitate to post, knowing many people would consider it "unfinished" or "too boring" or whatnot. To me it just felt done as soon as I did this much. I often doubt that feeling and keep working on it and ruin it, so was glad I stopped this time.
Don't hesitate to post what you believe in and feel confident about!
This reminds me of Rothko's work. If you've had the opportunity to see his work in person, you'll know how mesmerizing they are--how full of emotion and energy.
It's good, I think, to have variety in one's work. It gives us a break and allows for new inspiration.
I'm a painter (and writer and Spanish instructor) living in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I studied classical art in an ARC (Art Renewal Center) school, Colorado Academy of Art, full-time for two years, in order to benefit from the rigorous atelier-style training. I am currently dedicated to exploring abstract and semi-abstract art, working in oil and also in soft pastel. I firmly believe that all human beings are creative, whether or not they have yet found an outlet for the innate creative urge, and that the creative arts are the highest form of human expression. Because more WOULD be too much... great decisions here. As always, would love to see it in person!
