...And sometimes it just works. We know not why. All that recent bellyaching, and this one came out nice and painterly, very few brushstrokes, no blending at all, in less than an hour. It was so weird to be washing up the brushes an hour after starting. It's only happened a couple of times like that.

Beautiful and looks fabulously effortless. Send some of that good energy this way, please!
And it looks exactly like that, like it just rolled right off of your brush. You have to love that!
I wish you many many days like this!
love love love it. It's all the hours spent on the others that's allowed you to do this.
Brava!!!
Like a jewel!
Well this one is loose as a goose and brilliant.
Stunning. I love the shadows and light on the stem. So beautiful.
BEAUTIFUL painting, Jala!
Very nice!
I love those colors - deep and settled.
Shadows look great too.
And beautiful background.
It definitely works. Beautiful!
There's a particular glow to your lilac sprig. So lovely.
This is so poetic, just the way you have placed the flower. I love the tastefully chosen color tones...so pretty!
Very nice, very loose. An hour?!? I'm in awe (again).
Thanks for your comments on the gamma issue, which I've replied to. I'm going to find a Mac and look at your work from there.
It's a beautiful, simply elegant painting.
Ethereal, soft, perfect.
How wacky it is that we start the approach the same way, use the same colors, the same brushes and yet. And yet.
You'd think there was a learning process taking place. I say it's the dartboard syndrome.
Some days you just get a bulls eye!
This looks like it.
Hey Jala,
This is lovely - I've really been enjoying your work! I finally added your blog under "great art blogs" - right where it belongs:)
Jane
I like the ease with which you painted this lovely painting. Evocative shadows, nice glow in the upper background--well done. Keep going with this relaxed approach!
Beautiful! I can't believe you painted this in one hour. Great job!
Beautiful work, Jala - I love those shadows.
Thank you all so much for your kind comments.
Cheers,
J
I agree with Diane - you make this look effortless! I envy your lilacs - ours are weeks away!
