Golden apple

The Husband's sister and niece are visiting this weekend. A 9-year-old girl who likes abstract art--how cool is that?!

Here's a small oil from two days ago.

That's rare and very cool. She sounds like a great kid!
Pretty apple.

Great painting my dear. I hope you and your niece will get a chance to paint together. How fun!

Liz - Is it rare? There are no kids whatsoever in my life, so I have nothing to compare. But I do know this is one awesome kid!

Leslie - Thanks. In just two days, I think we spent five hours painting together. This kid has an unbelievable attention span.

Hi Jala, thanks a lot for your visit. Really like your portraits. Nice apple!

Love the stem on this apple--how it goes from shadow to lit to shadow again. Nice!

Sam - Thank you.

Kim - Thanks. The stem and its shadow are my favorite parts of this painting.

Cathyann - Thanks. I had a great time painting with her. Too bad I only see her about once a year or so! And soon she'll be an Evil Teenager, and think I'm stupid and boring. Hope you like the book!

That stem and it's shadow are triumphant and I love that little transitional spot of pink! Your niece sounds like she's definitely got some of your DNA! So fun. Happy Easter!

Laurel - Thanks. When I put on the pink, I literally went "oooh!" out loud. :)
The Niece is The Husband's niece, alas.

Sounds like a VERY cool kid! And this apple is amazing - love the color transitions. I find this color apple the hardest to paint!

Hi Janet (funny blog name!) - I also found it extremely hard to paint. It was really frustrating.
