Love it Jala. I understand why you copy Sargent...your brush work is already very similar.
I like this alot. The way you keep it loose and in your own style is a difficult thing to achieve while doing a study from another. Also, I wear glasses just like these so I am a biased 4 eyes.

Hi guys, thanks so much. Strangely, I completely missed the entire head tilt when starting to copy it. Shame on me for not noticing. Other than that I was pretty happy with it. The skin colors really are vibrant in real life.
Janelle, do an image search on Google for "John Singer Sargent Vernon Lee" and you should get lots of images of it.
I bet you were exhausted! Sargent is deceptively hard to copy. You're very brave to give it another go.

Hi R - Is he? I haven't been a good student--have not really copied anyone 'till now, so have nothing to compare with. I just know I love his work so much. I'm in awe when I examine his paintings.
Hi Mona - Do you mean imprimatura? I buy my linen already oil-primed, and I do an imprimatura before the painting.

Laurel - Indeed. My brain was fried after so much concentration, but I'll definitely be doing some more copying of him.
