Untitled 14 (oil)

Here's the second oil + cold wax painting, 10" x 30", finished late last night. (The title says "oil" to distinguish from my Untitled pastels.) I'm starting to get more of a handle on what happens while using this stuff, and getting some ideas for future paintings that could take advantage of this medium.
Sold.

At the hotel in Jaipur.

It's hard to get a vid of our two dogs wrestling...as soon as you get the camera out, here come their schnozzles to investigate.

Jala, beautiful effects with the oil/col wax in these two paintings. I really like that scratchy surface, just enough to give it a subtle texture.
(Dogs are great - and nosey)

Very nice painting Jala, it feels as if I am walking across a field at night.

You do good greens.

Notice that it's Jazzy who loves the camera.

Love the long thin vertical format. Very landscapey but with tension and squeeze.

These last two are lovely paintings with great color and texture. Lots of potential with this medium!

Hi Sheila, thank you. I'm starting to like this technique too. Wasn't sure at first... Love dog noses.

Hi Caroline - I love that image/idea!!

Sam - I grow some good greens too, in the backyard. Much as Jazzy does love the camera, that was a Moji schnozzle.

Hi Loriann - Thanks. At first I kept trying to do stuff with it without making a definite division. It just wasn't happening. Once I decided on a division, it all fell into place.

Hi Donald - Thank you. It is a very interesting medium and I look forward to seeing what else can come of it.
