Untitled 46...and De-lurkage

The darker-yellow areas really do have some texture. It was a different brand of pastel, and had a very different effect! I hadn't expected it, but liked it.

-----------
I thought we'd have some fun today. I've decided I'm going to do a periodic de-lurkage post. Here's my first one. This is completely optional, but I'd love for every single person who visits this blog post (regardless of the date) to leave a comment (even just "hi" or "X was here"). The purpose is merely for my own amusement; as someone who occasionally lurks on blogs myself, I'd just love to know how many lurkers see a given post of mine. (I won't write back or anything, no pressure, no questions.) Kind of like spring cleaning. Er, whatever. So...if you'd like to participate, please do.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

Jala, I always enjoy your abstract pastels. And, I look forward to seeing your cats. I wish my cats got along as well as yours do!

Hey, Jala, I'll start the de-lurking...I'm a realist, but always feel connected to your color abstractions...there is something very essential and primal here...related to your affinity for animals somehow?

I'm always here.
Much like taking your 2010 census.

Love those yellows- as in how many ways can you use yellow and not have it be orange? Think you just answered that.

And ooooh those kitties. It's the snuggling, really, that gets me. And how they take to each other only as a species thing and not a litter thing.

Hi Jala... You already know I drop by each day. Love the close values and peek-a-boo squeeze effect. Really makes me notice the way simultaneous contrast works..I just keep staring at that light blue rectangle.
De-lurkage...heehee

Lurker Penelope reporting for duty.

PS: I really enjoy your artwork, even though I know nothing about (and am completely intimidated by) abstract art.
PPS: I also really enjoy your writing.
PPPS: And, of course, I adore the pics of your four-footed crew.

Another nice pastel, Jala, complete with the little bits of salmon peeking through.
I usually stop by, even if only lurking and a few days late.

I subscribe thru google reader, never miss a post. I enjoy following your adventures. I'll comment more after Spring awakens me.
I've been meaning to say I'm so sorry about Random.
And I've been wondering how long the head wobble continues after a trip to India? :)

Another regular reader of your blog. It's bookmarked on my home computer, which is not where I am, but I found it again via "blog surfing" from the Soft Pastel News blog.

I enjoy your paintings with the commentary, and the kitty pics - love the kitties!

i'll de-lurk too - though i'm here far too rarely, i have to admit.
this one's stunning... much reminds me of de stael at tate modern (which i finally managed to see last week).
the blue door's fab too... it's intriguing to see something more figurative (and not still life) of you... i've been working around some interiors recently (albeit slowly), so this is a good reminder.
cheers :)
