Sketches and Costa Rica part 2

Today I did the Monteverde zipline and Tarzan swing. Wow--talk about an adrenaline surge! While I was flying through the air, er, I mean, fog and rain, The Husband was viewing (captive) frogs and snakes.

We got plenty wet again all day today, and are looking forward to getting rained on tomorrow too, while on horseback. My hair is one big hopeless Brillo pad.

A few things from the sketchbook from the past couple of weeks...and then a couple of photos of tonight's sunset (photo credit: The Husband).

Hi Jala,
nice sketches! Costa Rica seems to be the better choice to stay, even though it's raining.Over here in northern Europe it's just grey, stormy and rainy. And way to warm for this time of year.
I wish you a great time.

I see more in these sketches - growth for you. Bravo! Que Bueno!

Some day I'll tell you about the time I swung on vines with a dozen Howler monkeys in CR.

favorite animal sightings: Quetzal birds.

Have fun and thanks for posting from CR.

Zip line? YOW!!!

Love The Husband's Michael Jackson glove. In trade, can we please see the Jewfro?

I just LOVE sketches of people - traveling is so great for that. These are very nice, too - they are really particular to each individual. And as a sucker for sunsets.... wow. Enjoy your trip. I hope Miss Lemon is taking good care of the menagerie.

Oh, Jala! How I envy you being in Costa Rica, despite the spiders and 'fro!!! We loved our time there and would go back in an instant. The sunsets are glorious - and I recognized The Husband immediately in your sketch (at least it looks like the same person getting his beard groomed by Rumi). Look forward to more posts from one of the most beautiful places on the planet! (hugs)

Great sketches, Jala, and lovely photos in these posts from Costa Rica. Did you decide against bringing pastel pencils or are you finding you don't have time during the trip for working in color? (That's what always seems to happen to me) These figurative sketches are a wonderful counterpoint to your beautiful recent abstract pastels.

The presence of a strong hand is evident in all your sketches. Nice.
The Husband also caught some beautiful sunsets. I can't help but wonder how this time away, immersed in beauty, will bring new creative juices.

Hi Casey - Glad you could relive your C.R. memories here. :) We saw a quetzal (through binoculars) on our previous trip, thanks to some birdwatching Germans. Crazy-gorgeous.

Hi Astrid - Thanks for your visit! You know how much I admire your work. You're right, rainy and tropical is probably more pleasant than rainy in Europe. :)

Hi Kelley - Thanks. Yep, Miss Lemon did an outstanding job. :)

Sam - No way, Jose'.

Hi Joanne - So you're familiar with the spiders, rain, birds, and 'fros of C.R. :) It made me really happy to see that you recognized The Husband in the sketch--because he thinks it looks nothing like him.

Hi Brian M - I chickened out about bringing pastels or pastel pencils. I kept picturing the colored dust coating all my clothes in the suitcase... And as it turned out, you're right, I had no time anyway. I feel as if I haven't painted for a loooong time.

Hi Loriann - The overall color of Costa Rica is green. Green, and nothing but green. I wonder if I'll be more attracted to working in green now? (which I virtually never do)
