I love this! We found an old, old trivit (sp) in an antique shop the other day to house our old flat iron we use as a back door stop. I never thought about sketching or painting them before...what a great idea! Maggie
OOOOH, I LOVE this... particularly the shape and composition. I have a similar key and enjoyed painting it - I love your treatment of the metal in this series!
I love the key and amazed at the background and the courage to leave what looks like the ground showing. It just adds so much character to the subject. r.
I'm a painter (and writer and Spanish instructor) living in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I studied classical art in an ARC (Art Renewal Center) school, Colorado Academy of Art, full-time for two years, in order to benefit from the rigorous atelier-style training. I am currently dedicated to exploring abstract and semi-abstract art, working in oil and also in soft pastel. I firmly believe that all human beings are creative, whether or not they have yet found an outlet for the innate creative urge, and that the creative arts are the highest form of human expression. this is just spectacular!
Jala you definitely have a distinctive style with these stills, and I LOVE them. The gray background is brilliant.
Jala, I love the dominant dark idea, nice and mysterious, and sort of medieval looking. Very dramatic, beautiful painting.
You really got the metallic feel. Great painting!

You know how to choose a subject! Great job.
perfection.
Wonderful simplicity! Love the shadow and the brass is painted to perfection. I like the rough background too. Adds to the "antique" feeling.
