It kills me when Fennec sleeps in this face-plant position:

Art is everywhere...  This is a piece of precut Swiss cheese from a package I bought.

Open Studios is the first two weekends in October

If you'll be in the Boulder area the first two weekends of October, please come by for a visit during Boulder Open Studios 2012

I've moved, and am now located in the Gunbarrel area of Boulder. See the Open Studios map and/or website for info.

Fennec looks forward to it.

Something about how Gadjo's little tippy-tail is turned up here just kills me.

Even more weirdness

The physical maladies just won't stop...  Two days ago I had a bad migraine all day and night and woke up with this in my eye. Looking in the mirror to brush my teeth, I did a literal double take.

The internet tells me it's just a burst blood vessel and will go away by itself. At least it doesn't hurt--it just looks creepy.

Fennec maintains a lonely vigil at the window, hoping for Tortie Girl to come back.

...And then of course there's these two weirdos.

Fennec gets excited

What got Fennec all excited, out the patio window?

It's a pretty tortie girl from somewhere in the neighborhood, come to flirt with my three boy kitties through the patio window and shamelessly flaunt her freedom.

In the meantime, I still have the weirdest cats in the world. Well, especially Rumi.

Kitties always look so angelic and innocent while they're asleep...

------

What does this look like to you? Does it look like half a 25-year-old cactus was broken mercilessly overnight by three mischievous kitties? Yep, that's correct.

And yet. And yet, I love them so. Everything's forgivable.

Well, except maybe that time I painstakingly coaxed, over seven years, a very rare orchid to bloom, put it in a place the cats shouldn't have been able to reach, and the next day the cats severed the flower spike.

Who doesn't fit in his favorite box anymore?

Qui, moi?? Vraiment?

It cracks me up when I discover that I've been walking back and forth unknowingly being observed by a small Oriental statue.

Painting again!

The studio is still overall difficult space-wise, but I got a space cleared out enough to start working! Today was my first day painting in months, and it felt soooo great--the smell of oil paint was an instant pleasure.

These two blue stripe paintings (I think they're each 10" x 30") are what I worked on today. They're in progress, but they may be nearly done, or they may end up unrecognizably different. That's one of the most fun things about using the cold wax medium.

I think I forgot to mention that a few months ago, Osmosis Gallery in Niwot accepted two of my large oils. If you are so inclined and in the area (Niwot, Colorado), please stop by there and see them in person, and/or ask people you know to do so. (And if you have some spare cash, well, you know...)

The gallery is packed with good art and is wonderfully funky, as it doubles as an architects' building. The owner is actually an architect herself, so has a good eye for aesthetics. Thank you for going to check it out! Every first Friday of the month they hold an open evening party, too.

Here's a pic of my two paintings hung at Osmosis, during a Friday opening party. They are the large, colorful ones. (Forgive the crappy iPhone3 camera quality.)

Face of contentment. Who wouldn't be, with a best friend like Gadjo?

Oh, how I love my kitties

Mealtime or naptime, these two are rarely apart.

The face of innocence (kitties are good actors).
