Sonja

This was the last alla prima portrait from a few weeks ago, before my instructor stopped teaching it. I was pretty happy with it, although as you can see, I never resolved one eye. Thought I'd post it anyway, especially for those of you who also do alla prima portraiture.

I started doing my catch up viewing with your shell painting and quickly realized I would have quite a few on here if I kept going. You've done some really beautiful work. Love the simple message of the feather. The "unresolved eye" in this gives it mystery. Love it as it is!

Hi Jala, thank you for sharing this. It is always fascinating to see how others start portraits and the initial colour choices they make as well as the direction they are heading. r.

The shoulder/neck shadow pulls your(my) eye into the face. And, the unresolved eye doesn't detract from the piece.

Gwen, thank you for all your very nice comments. A joy to receive them.

Rahina - Glad you can get some use out of it.

Cathyann - Thanks. No, I don't think I'll go back into it, so this is how she stays.

Pam - Thanks. I also thought the shoulder/neck shadow worked really well too. As for the eye...well...
